Manchester United decide on preferred choice for Luke Shaw replacement
Manchester United are looking to sign a left-back in order to find a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Manchester United confirmed last week that Luke Shaw will be unavailable for an extended period of time – he is joining Tyrell Malacia on the sidelines.
Malacia missed the entirety of Erik ten Hag‘s 2023 pre-season, and the club are yet to give a definitive, or even rough, return date for either the England or Netherlands international players.

With both of them out for the foreseeable future, the club have rushed into the market to try and find a temporary replacement, and have narrowed their search.
After having assessed the players available, it has been claimed by transfer expect Fabrizio Romano that United have settled on Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella as their preferred option.
Further to this, it is said that Chelsea are willing to let Cucurella leave the club on loan to United this summer, but it has to be on their terms.
Chelsea will no doubt want United to pay a loan fee in order to secure the player’s services and contribute to part or all of his wages.
Various reports put Cucurella’s current wage package at between £175-200k a week, and United would be expected to pay the bulk of this wage, which could cause problems in negotiations.
United are also said to be considering both Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso, although it has been said that Alonso has no desire to leave Barcelona this summer.
