Manchester United considering surprise swap deal as new contract signed
Manchester United are considering a surprise swap deal for one transfer this summer while a new contract has been signed at Old Trafford.
The Reds are moving on to their next target after securing the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui earlier this week.
According to the Manchester World, a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte is back on the cards for United after the Reds initially walked away from a deal due to the player’s price tag.
It was explained that the French champions are eager to sell the 23-year-old before the end of the window, but they need to either lower their £51 million demands or accept an initial loan offer for the player.
The report added that while hurdles still need to be navigated, there is a growing belief that an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.
Ugarte has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League outfit and would like to make the move to Manchester.
Another potential solution to the deal was explained by the prior report, with there being a possibility that Jadon Sancho could be used as part of a deal to sign Ugarte.
Meanwhile, it has been reported by Loïc Tanzi that Bruno Fernandes has signed his new contract at Old Trafford, with reports stating that it will be valid until June 2027 with an option for an additional year.
Fernandes’ wage packet will also be boosted to the top of United’s list to reflect his importance to the club.
The Portuguese midfielder joined the club in January 2020 and has since made 234 appearances for United. He has scored 79 goals and registered 67 assists in that time.
There were recent rumours about a potential move for the player from Saudi Arabia, but the player has put any uncertainty to rest after signing a new deal at United.
An official announcement is expected soon.
