Manchester United’s next transfer target following the signing of Leny Yoro has been revealed, and it makes perfect sense.

The Reds have now secured two summer signings before their pre-season tour to the United States next week.

Joshua Zirkzee became the first addition last Sunday following the Netherlands’ exit from Euro 2024. He will provide important support to Rasmus Højlund.

Meanwhile, Leny Yoro signed his United contract on Thursday afternoon and could make his debut for the club against Arsenal at the end of the month.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, after having finalised the deal for Yoro, United are set to push forward with the potential signing of Manuel Ugarte.

It was claimed that the Paris Saint-Germain midfield remains high on the list at Old Trafford in terms of midfield targets, and he is also keen on joining INEOS‘ new project.

While it was further clarified that there is no agreement as things stand, there are ongoing talks between the clubs and player.

Midfield addition is crucial

After securing a centre-back and striker, moving onto a central midfield target is much-needed for Erik ten Hag’s team. In fact, two signings in that area could be needed.

There were some concerns that INEOS were going to strengthen at either end of the pitch but not bolster their engine room, but this suggests that changes will be made in the middle soon.

Whether Ugarte is the best possible option, it seems like he would provide a crucial upgrade to what United currently have on offer.

Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo are guaranteed starters in United’s best team. But that extra position at the base of the midfield needs addressing, and it seems like that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
