Harry Maguire has seen somewhat of a revitalisation at Manchester United so far this season, but according to reports, the club are now open to selling him.

Harry Maguire was moments away from signing for West Ham last summer after Manchester United agreed on a fee of around £30 million for the central defender late on in the 2023 transfer window.

However, at the final hurdle, talks between Maguire and the London club broke down after a difference in personal terms, with the England international refusing to take such a large wage decrease.

Due to United’s injury crisis, Harry Maguire has played over 2,000 minutes across 28 games under Erik ten Hag this campaign, but this has not changed the club’s stance – they are willing to sell him.

United “open” to departure

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Maguire “could say goodbye” to Old Trafford this summer, following Raphaël Varane out the door.

The report further explains that West Ham are “still monitoring” the 31-year-old, with United open to letting him go in the summer.

Three replacements

Beyond this, Galetti also names three replacements for Maguire that United have on their list, the first of which is Gleison Bremer from Juventus. Bremer’s contract is said to have a release clause of around £43 million.

The second is the Portuguese and Benfica centre-back António Silva. Silva’s contract has a reported release clause of £87 million. This may be a little high for United, which is working on a somewhat limited budget.

Finally, Galetti names 22-year-old Sporting CP defender Gonçalo Inácio as the third option. The latest reports have claimed that he has a price tag of around £40 million, making him the cheapest of the three options.
