According to reports, Anderlecht CEO Jesper Fredberg may approach Manchester United for one of their players, with a deal potentially happening by Wednesday.

The 2024 transfer window was exceptionally lively for Manchester United, witnessing a host of significant changes at Old Trafford.

Manager Erik ten Hag brought in five key players to the first team: Joshua ZirkzeeLeny YoroMatthijs de LigtNoussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte.

Meanwhile, the club saw the exit of notable players such as Scott McTominayAaron Wan-BissakaJadon SanchoMason Greenwood, with these departures bringing in over £120 million during the summer.

However, although the Premier League transfer window has closed, other European leagues—one of which is the Belgian Pro League—do not shut for another few days.

According to Het Belang van Limburg, Anderlecht are still focusing on potentially bringing in Christian Eriksen on the final days of their window, which closes on Friday, 6 September.

The report states that club CEO Jesper Fredberg is making a “persistent attempt” to sign the Danish captain and playmaker before the upcoming deadline.

Further, the report explains that if the transfer happens, it “will probably happen only on September 3rd (Tuesday or 4th (Wednesday),” as that is the deadline for Anderlecht to register Erisken for the European competition.

Eriksen has not played any of United’s first three games since their return from pre-season, with the Danish international on the bench against Manchester City, Fulham, and Brighton.

Earlier this summer, Eriksen explained that he would like to see out the final year of his contract at United: “I have one year left, so for me, I am a United player and for the last year as well.

“I haven’t been told [to] leave or [about an] extension. I feel good, my family is feeling good living in Manchester, and United is a nice club.”
