Man United academy star scores fourth goal of the season – he’s doing one rare thing that Erik ten Hag’s side lack
One Manchester United academy starlet has started the new season in tremendous fashion, with four goals in his first three appearances.
Gabriele Biancheri was one of United’s most dangerous youth team forwards last season, but the likes of Ethan Wheatley and Ethan Williams often received more of the praise.
He scored 14 goals last term in 26 appearances, but many of those came from the bench.
Now, the Welsh forward looks set to have a standout campaign in the Under-18s as United look to try and retain the league title.
In the opening league game against rivals Manchester City, Biancheri scored a typical striker’s goal from a low cross, and he did the same when coming off the bench for the Under-21s against Blackburn on Friday.
Meanwhile, the talented youngster scored twice in a Premier League Cup outing against Leicester U18s.
Biancheri manages to do one thing in particular that many others, including those in Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad, simply cannot.
He is always in the right place at the right time. The 17-year-old is a proper striker who scores most of his goals inside the box, often with his first or second touch as he gets on the end of crosses.
United have many exciting youngsters in the Carrington setup, but Biancheri is one of the only players in the U18s or above who seem to have this natural instinct.
In fact, one of the main problems in Ten Hag’s squad is that they are not finishing off their chances.
It will be a while before Biancheri challenges to be in the first team, and after the club signed Chido Obi-Martin, he will find it more difficult to push through.
However, having that rare ability at such a young age could take him far, but the Welshman will first be focused on making a significant impact this season.
