£38,000 p/w Sporting star “has his heart set” on Rúben Amorim reunion at Manchester United
Viktor Gyökeres is reportedly focused on joining former Sporting manager Rúben Amorim at Manchester United in 2025.
Manchester United’s transfer plans for 2025 are beginning to take shape under the leadership of Rúben Amorim.
Amorim was brought in to replace Erik ten Hag, who left with United struggling in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, despite a summer investment of over £200 million.

With a tighter budget moving forward, the club will rely on Amorim to focus on improving the current squad.
While January signings appear unlikely, groundwork is being laid for summer additions, with several outgoings expected to help fund new recruits.
Gyökeres to Man United latest
Since Amorim’s arrival, United have been closely linked with Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has scored a stunning 24 goals in 20 games for Sporting CP this season.
As most of these came under Amorim before the 39-year-old’s move to Old Trafford, many are understandably thinking that considering the clear connection between the pair and United’s goalscoring issues, it would be natural to follow him.
According to The Sun, the player feels the same. The report states that the 26-year-old “has his heart set” on signing for United this summer as he wants to follow Amorim to the Premier League.
This comes despite interest from Barcelona, with chiefs at the Nou Camp changing their course after learning that Gyökeres’ priorities lie elsewhere.
A Zirkzee swap deal?
Amid all the transfer reports surrounding Gyökeres, earlier this month, it was claimed that United may explore a swap deal to bring the Swede to Old Trafford.
It was stated by reports in Germany that United are prepared to offer new striker Joshua Zirkzee in a player-plus-cash deal to tempt Sporting to lower their initial price.
It has been claimed many times that a gentleman’s agreement between player and club exists that would allow him to leave the Liga Portugal club for around £60 million this summer, less than his £85 million release clause.
The report claimed that a move to Sporting is being considered as a ‘serious option’ for the 23-year-old, while he has also been linked with a return to Italy.
