According to local reports, Manchester United scouts were in attendance as Turkey defeated Czechia during their final 2024 European Championship group stage.

Manchester United are looking to add depth to their ranks this summer after a season-long injury crisis exposed the lack of quality bench options in Erik ten Hag‘s squad.

With the team stretched thin at many points across the campaign, United recorded their lowest-ever Premier League finish in eighth while getting knocked out of the Champions League before Christmas.

United will have multiple forwards leave the club this summer, with Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood almost certain to be sold. Reports have suggested that United are also open to offers for Antony.

Therefore, the club will need to focus on bringing in new attacking talent in the next two months, and the 2024 European Championships is a brilliant platform to find hidden gems.

According to Haber Sarikirmizi, United had a scout in attendance to watch Galatasaray winger Barış Alper Yılmaz during Turkey’s 2-1 win over Czechia on Wednesday evening.

However, the journalist also explained that United were not the only Premier League club in attendance – North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur were also keeping a keen eye.

“Manchester United and Tottenham watched Barış Alper in the match between Czechia and Turkey,” Sarikirmizi revealed. “I had it confirmed. If it continues like this, it looks like they will continue to watch.”

The 24-year-old right-footed right-winger could be a good option for Ten Hag’s men as a rotation option, with Amad Diallo expected to be given a real shot at securing the position across the next campaign.

However, United would not have to battle Spurs for Yılmaz’s signature. In the last week, he has been linked with Brighton following rumours of a bid from the Seagulls.

United will likely have to make sure that the sales of Sancho and Greenwood go through relatively soon before they can begin to sanction purchases.
