“We are interested…” President CONFIRMS transfer speculation in Manchester United star

One club president has confirmed his interest in Manchester United star Scott McTominay, with the player a potential sale option under Erik ten Hag this summer.

Scott McTominay‘s 2023/24 season at Manchester United has been his most productive yet, scoring 10 goals under Erik ten Hag.

Since his debut under Jose Mourinho in 2017, McTominay has been a dependable utility player for every manager he has played under during his seven-year spell with the first team. However, this season looks to be his last at Old Trafford, with UtdDistrict understanding that the club is fully prepared to sell McTominay during the summer transfer window.

In 2023, McTominay was close to a £30 million transfer to West Ham, but the deal eventually fell through, keeping him at United for another season. Now, with INEOS needing to raise funds for new signings, McTominay is garnering interest from several Premier League clubs.

However, in a new twist, Galatasaray vice-president Ibrahim Hatipoglu has confirmed the transfer speculation that his Turkish Super Lig club are actively pursuing a deal for the 27-year-old this summer.

“We are interested in a player from the Premier League and Manchester United,” Hatipoglu told CNN Turk.

“There is nothing more natural than the high cost of this. There are discussions regarding his transfer fee. For us, the total cost, including transfer fees and player receivables [salary], is important at the decision point.

“Once the negotiations with both the club and the player are completed, the cost becomes apparent.”

Hatipoglu then told Haber Sarı Kirmizi that although McTominay is an option, they are also looking into a deal for Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

“McTominay’s transfer is being discussed. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all option.”

The Athletic have reported that although McTominay’s contract expires next summer, he is seen as a valued member of Erik ten Hag’s squad, meaning “an attractive offer” would be needed in order to sign him this summer.
