Scott McTominay has reportedly been “offered” to a club who tried to sign him from Manchester United in a last-minute deal last summer.

Scott McTominay‘s 2023/24 season at Manchester United has been his best yet, with the midfielder netting 10 goals under Erik ten Hag‘s guidance.

Since his debut under Jose Mourinho in 2017, McTominay has been a versatile player for every manager throughout his seven-year stint with the first team. However, last season may be his final at Old Trafford.

In 2023, McTominay was on the verge of a £30 million move to West Ham, but the deal fell through, resulting in another year at United. Now, with INEOS needing to raise funds for new acquisitions, McTominay is drawing interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

Aside from the West Ham deal, there were also reports from Turkey that Fenerbahçe made a late attempt to sign McTominay from United on deadline day, with the Istanbul side desperate to add a new defensive midfielder to their ranks.

One season later, according to reliable Turkish journalist Sercan Hamzaolu, McTominay’s agent has now offered the 27-year-old to Fenerbahçe, but the Super Ligue side have not yet responded.

Fenerbahçe are now managed by former United manager Jose Mourinho, who is known to have a special admiration for the Scotland international. After handing him his debut for United, Mourinho created a special award during the end of the 2017/18 season.

He handed the Scotsman the “Managers Player of the Season” award, which had not previously been a recognised trophy within United, as he wanted to specifically highlight the work that McTominay had done during his full debut season as a first-team Red Devil.

Should Fenerbahçe respond to his agent’s offers, Mourinho is likely to want to work with McTominay again in some capacity.

“There’s a picture in my grandparents’ house of me making my debut in the Champions League, standing beside Jose Mourinho,” McTominay said of Mourinho earlier this year.

“They loved him because he gave me that moment. He gave me that initial opportunity, so he will always be a hero of mine. I’ll be forever grateful for everything that he did for me.”
