Manchester United are now said to be in advanced talks to sign right-back Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich after his transfer to West Ham collapsed.

Manchester United are looking for further defensive reinforcements this summer following a season that saw the club concede over 80 goals across all competitions under Erik ten Hag.

Leny Yoro is the first defensive name being brought in for the summer of 2024. The club are reportedly looking to sell and replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has one year left on his contract.

Wan-Bissaka is thought to favour a move to Inter Milan this summer, having rejected a move to West Ham. The London club have just had a second deal collapse that could benefit Manchester United.

According to German transfer expert Florien Plettenberg, although West Ham had a deal with Bayern Munich to sign right-back Noussai Mazraoui, this deal has now collapsed.

It has been reported that the two clubs had an agreement of around £13 million plus a further £3.4 million in add-ons for the player, but there was no agreement reached on the agent’s side.

West Ham have now “left” negotiations on the player’s side following this inability to reach a conclusion, and Manchester United are “pushing” to sign the 26-year-old Moroccan full-back.

Erik ten Hag is thought to rate him highly following their work together at Ajax, where Mazraoui formed a good relationship on the right-hand flank alongside Antony.

United tried to hijack Bayern Munich’s move for Mazraoui two seasons ago when he initally left Ajax for Germany, but failed to do so with the player already keen to play for the Bundesliga side. Two years later, they may have got their man.

The move may go through should United seal an exit for Wan-Bissaka, who has drawn interest from Galatasaray, Inter Milan, and West Ham.
