Manchester United ‘enquire’ for 16-goal Bundesliga star with surprising release clause addition
According to reports from Germany, Manchester United have enquired about 21-year-old Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier, who has a surprising release clause.
Manchester United are desperately trying to find a new strike partner for Rasmus Højlund this summer, with the Dane currently Erik ten Hag‘s only recognised centre-forward at the club.
Højlund scored 16 goals last campaign, which is a respectable haul considering the horrid inconsistencies this season. However, with Anthony Martial leaving the club at the end of the month once his contract expires, extra firepower is needed.

Højlund is the one who United want to focus on developing, but it is unreasonable to assume that the 21-year-old is able to start every single game across the campaign, so competition is needed.
This summer, the club does not have an unlimited supply of cash to spend, so they must make sure they spend wisely on good value-for-money signings rather than the lavish buys that Old Trafford has witnessed over the last ten years.
According to the German newspaper Bild, via Sport Witness, United have now expressed a strong interest in signing 21-year-old Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim.
According to the report, United have now made the first move by enquiring about the terms of a possible transfer, with Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford also keen on the forward.
In reply, Hoffenheim told the Old Trafford outfit that Beier has a release clause set at £27.5 million, although this fee decreases annually by £2.1 million, which is not uncommon in Germany.
Beier impressed at Hoffenheim last season, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists across 35 matches. Following his positive displays, he is part of Germany’s squad for the 2024 European Championships.
The significant interest in his signature is no surprise.
