Manchester United moving for “truly mesmerising” star, Rúben Amorim has already chosen his role
Rúben Amorim has already chosen a role for a “truly mesmerising” star Manchester United are “serious” about signing.
Manchester United are beginning to shape their transfer plans for 2025 under new head coach Rúben Amorim.
Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, who departed after leaving the team in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, despite a summer spending spree of over £200 million.
With a reduced budget, United are prioritising Amorim’s ability to improve the players already at his disposal.
Although January signings are unlikely, preparations are underway for summer reinforcements, with several departures expected to finance potential new arrivals.
United’s serious interest
Manchester United are planning on signing new attacking stars this summer, with reports from Italy linking the club to Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer.
According to Sportmediaset, United are “serious” about their interest in the Georgian international after his displays for Napoli manager Antonio Conte in a perfect role for Amorim.
The 23-year-old has been shining as an inside forward within Conte’s 3-4-3 system, which is the exact role Amorim reportedly plans to have him occupy, with the Portuguese coach seeing Kvaratskhelia as a “key target” this summer.
Napoli have encountered issues with the young winger’s contract, which runs until 2027. President Aurelio De Laurentiis’ side have offered him a £5 million per year contract, but United are willing to go toward £7.5 million, making the offer tempting for the young forward.
A “truly mesmerising” star
While many in England may know the name Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for his excellent performances in the Champions League, much of his talent remains a mystery for Premier League fans.
Scouting website twenty3 produced a report on the player in January 2023, where beyond his goalscoring and creative abilities, it’s his directness that makes him a special winger.
“Among the most sought-after traits in a wide player is the ability to glide past players in one-on-one situations,” they wrote.
“Skilled dribblers are particularly useful when attempting to break down defensive blocks, tempting opposition defenders to jump out of shape and make a challenge.
“Kvaratskhelia’s ability to take players on is truly mesmerising — his low centre of gravity allows him to twist and turn out of tight spaces.”
