Manchester United target ‘prepared’ to reject Arsenal transfer to secure Old Trafford move
One of Manchester United’s seemingly key targets is prepared to reject an approach from Arsenal in order to secure a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Rasmus Højlund’s first season at Manchester United was a mix of highs and lows. He showcased his knack for scoring impressive goals, emerging as the club’s leading scorer with 16 goals across all competitions, including five in the Champions League. His contributions were pivotal in United’s FA Cup triumph.
Despite his club success, Højlund struggled during the 2024 European Championships with Denmark, where the team failed to win a single game and was eliminated by hosts Germany.

At just 20 years old, Højlund faced immense pressure but proved his talent and potential by showing why United paid the £72 million fee to Atalanta.
With Anthony Martial leaving after his contract expired last month, Manchester United are looking to strengthen their attacking options. It appears they are close to reaching an agreement to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.
This is according to CaughtOffside, where a report claims that United are the most advanced in terms of getting a deal over the line for the 23-year-old with a £34 million release clause.
Further, CaughtOffside claims that United are not the only club interested, with a deal also being explored by both AC Milan and Arsenal.
While reports from earlier this year repeatedly claimed that a contract with Milan has been unofficially agreed upon, Zirkzee is said to be willing to reject any approach from Arsenal to try to land his deal with United.
United are the most advanced of the three clubs, with some reports in Italy claiming that an agreement has already been reached. However, publications close to the situation in England have yet to reiterate this.
United’s options of having both Zirlzee and Højlund upfront will add a new type of dynamic attack to Ten Hag’s front line. With both players working under legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is set to join Ten Hag’s backroom staff, having two young stars in the centre-forward role is a gamble that could well pay off.
