Manchester United are said to have “convinced” striker target Joshua Zirkzee, with the two biggest problems now solved ahead of a move.

Rasmus Højlund‘s first season at Manchester United had its ups and downs, showcasing his ability to score impressive goals but also highlighting some inconsistency. He emerged as the club’s leading scorer with 16 goals across all competitions, including five in the Champions League, and contributed significantly to United’s FA Cup win over the course of the season.

However, the striker failed to deliver as part of a poor Denmark side during the recent 2024 European Championships. The Danish Dynamite failed to win a single game before being knocked out against hosts Germany.

Aside from this, despite facing immense pressure at just 20 years old, Højlund validated the £72 million transfer fee United paid to Atalanta by demonstrating his talent and potential.

However, with Anthony Martial having left United following the expiry of his contract, the club are looking to once again add to their front line, and it seems that an agreement has been reached for the transfer of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

According to Corriere di Bologna, Zirkzee’s farewell from Boglogna is now “certain,” and the player is “ready” to join Manchester United.

The club is said to have reached an agreement with Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, regarding his agent commissions. The club has also convinced the 23-year-old about the role he will play within Ten Hag’s team.

The agent fees were seen as the biggest potential stumbling block in the deal, as it is said his representative, Kia Joorabchian, was demanding around £12 million in commission. Although the final figure is not said, it is expected that the agent and club will have come to an agreement on a lower figure.

Ten Hag, who is said to have had direct contact with Zirkzee in the last few days, helped overcome Zirkzee’s original resistance to joining the attacking line at Old Trafford.

Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori has already confirmed that Zirkzee is “99 per cent” likely to leave the Serie A side this summer. “Joshua Zirkzee has a release clause into his contract, and I believe he’s 99 per cent going to leave the club,” Sartori told the press on Monday.

Zirkzee netted 12 goals across 37 fixtures last campaign and provided seven assists. He is currently away with the Netherlands at the 2024 European Championships.
