Manchester United ‘match’ PSG’s £60m bid for starlet, response was immediately clear
Manchester United are currently hunting for new transfer options this summer after Erik ten Hag’s team failed to perform last campaign.
Last season saw Erik ten Hag‘s Manchester United squad crash out of the Champions League at Christmas before slipping to eighth in the Premier League table.
Finishing on a lowly 60 points, United failed to live up to the expectations of everyone across the footballing world, with an injury crisis leaving key players such as Lisandro Martínez, Luke Shaw, and Casemiro on the sidelines for long periods.

Although the season concluded with a brilliant FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, upgrades are needed across the field, with INEOS now looking to add to the club’s midfield options.
Joao Neves, Portugal and Benfica sensation, is currently away with Portugal at the 2024 European Championships alongside Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot and has been subject to significant interest from United and other clubs across the continent following a brilliant season with Benfica.
On Thursday, Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, via Sport Witness, reported that Manchester United have submitted a bid in the region of £60 million for Neves. This follows reports last month that a previous bid of just over £50 million had been rejected.
Both the United and Paris Saint-Germain are said to have made this offer, but Benfica rejected the proposals. The 19-year-old is known to have an £85 million release clause in his current contract.
The report claims that Benfica president Rui Costa considers Neves “vital” for his team and is unwilling to let the midfielder go this summer.
Correio da Manhã further states that Manchester United are not the only club trying to bring Neves to England, with Arsenal and Chelsea also showing interest. However, the Red Devils are said to be the only Premier League team to have made an official bid.
Although Costa turned down the initial offers, the report concludes that he hasn’t completely closed the door on a potential transfer, and new bids may emerge after the European Championships in Germany.
