Borussia Dortmund are said to be preparing a record fee for Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho, who has been “extraordinary” in training.

It’s unlikely we’ll see Jadon Sancho playing for Manchester United again following his fallout with Erik ten Hag earlier this season. The winger publicly accused the Dutch manager of playing favorites and branded him a liar, causing a significant rift between them.

Sancho released a statement claiming he was being unfairly targeted after Ten Hag suggested he had been dropped from the squad due to poor training performances. When Sancho refused to apologize for his remarks, he found himself frozen out of the squad.

In January, Sancho made a return to Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan deal from Old Trafford. Since then, he’s been getting back into his stride, aiding the Bundesliga club in reaching the Champions League semi-finals, where they’re scheduled to face Paris St. Germain next month.

Since rejoining Dortmund on loan, he has scored three goals and provided two assists in 16 appearances.

Sancho has been “extraordinary”

Edin Terzic, Dormtund boss, has been very complimentary of Sancho since he landed back in the Bundesliga. Speaking to Sport1, Terzic said that there is a belief that Sancho is still far from his best form.

“Both I notice and Jadon notices that he is not yet at his absolute best, but that is completely normal for us. We knew that.”

He also added that the club’s busy schedule has made it tough for Sancho but that the player has shown that he can be back to his best during training sessions.

“We know that he is capable of reaching this maximum very quickly,” he said. “The question is, is it possible to do this every three days?

“But we see Jadon perform an action in every training session that shows his extraordinary talent. We see how diligent he is with the tasks and how hard he works on them.”

A record bid

Borussia Dortmund realise that they must pay around £34 million for Sancho, which would be a record fee for the Bundesliga club, trumping the £31 million they spent for Ousmane Dembele back in 2016.

There have been rumours that Dortmund may try and explore a swap deal, with Donyell Malen a name that has come up as an option United may be willing to accept in a player exchange.

However, Sancho’s future may change depending on if INEOS decide to sack Erik ten Hag this summer.
