“Seriously considering…” Man Utd to ‘assess’ transfer status of underwhelming duo amid possible Saudi move

Manchester United are reportedly set to assess the transfer status of two underwhelming players amid reports of a possible move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Manchester United are planning a major clear-out this summer as they look to raise funds for Rúben Amorim’s squad rebuild by offloading a number of first-team players. With Amorim set to introduce a demanding tactical system, many within the current squad are not expected to be part of his long-term plans.

The upcoming transfer window is likely to see a wave of departures. Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen are both out of contract at the end of the season and are set to leave on free transfers.

United are also looking to cash in on players currently out on loan, with Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia all expected to be sold. The trio are not believed to have a future under Amorim and will be made available for transfer.

Veterans like Casemiro are also likely to be moved on, as the club aims to refresh the squad with younger, more dynamic players suited to Amorim’s philosophy. United are hoping to generate significant revenue from sales to back their new manager in the market.

Underperforming duo set for transfer assessment

According to a fresh report, United are also set to assess the transfer status of two underwhelming players as the club finalise their plans for the summer transfer window.

Rasmus Højlund only recently netted his first goal for United in over 20 appearances, which has led many to question his long-term future as Amorim’s first-choice striker.

André Onana has also been in the news of late, with Amorim reportedly looking to sign a new goalkeeper this summer amid a series of individual mistakes from the Cameroon international.

According to GiveMeSport, the club will make decisions on whether they may choose to sell Højlund and Onana this summer amid the club “seriously considering” signing replacements for both.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed earlier this week that Højlund is receiving interest from teams in Italy.

Onana lined up for possible Saudi Arabia move

This news comes following a claim that Onana is being lined up for a possible move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

According to The Sun, The 28-year-old is set for a move to the Saudi Pro League this coming summer with United tracking both Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens and Lille goalkeeping sensation Lucas Chevalier.

However, both players are said to also be at the top of the list for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s No. 1 Ederson also on the move to the Middle East.

Last month, it was announced that Onana had signed with Fali Ramadani’s LIAN Sports agency, who have secured moves to Saudi Arabia for both Édouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly in the last few seasons.
