Manchester United starlet set for summer transfer following “spectacular” international display
Facundo Pellistri is looking increasingly set for a transfer out of Manchester United this summer, and his Copa America performances will only increase his value.
Facundo Pellistri‘s time at Manchester United has been marked by inconsistency, with Erik ten Hag never fully integrating him into the squad. Pellistri joined United from Uruguayan club Peñarol in 2020 for around £7 million, with hopes that he would develop into a key winger over the following seasons.
However, Alejandro Garnacho has followed this path more successfully, and Amad Diallo has now emerged, further limiting Pellistri’s opportunities in the first team.

As a result, Pellistri has been loaned out multiple times to La Liga, spending time with Alaves twice and most recently joining Granada in the January 2024 transfer window.
However, his performances for Uruguay across the same period have been encouraging, with the winger playing a starting role during the 2022 World Cup campaign. Further, he has played an important part in their 2024 Copa America bid and was a star player during a 5-0 riot against Bolivia.
Starting and playing 86 minutes, Pellistiri scored and registered an assist, with their local media
“He played a spectacular first half,” El Observador wrote. “Not only because of the goal for 1-0, but because it was a constant scourge with his climbs. He assisted Federico Valverde in the fourth goal. Great game. He was replaced at 84 minutes.”
La Diaria Deporte chimed in with their own praise, saying: “Incisive, spicy, one of the first defenders in high pressure, one of the first facers when he recovers the ball. As if that were not enough, he had the cunning to go to a ball at the back post and, being one of the smallest in height, he put it upside down.
“He was the best on the pitch and the stadium applauded him standing up when he came out.”
El Pais explained that, beyond his attacking output, he also contributed in a defensive capacity: “Another one that was a little above the rest was the attacker. The right winger appeared on the back post and played head-on to put the 1-0.
“But beyond what was done in attack, when it was necessary, he returned, and even on more than one occasion, he was seen marking on the back of the court. In the second half, he assisted Federico Valverde for Pajarito to score his goal.”
Pellistri’s future at Old Trafford seems in doubt, with the player facing a transfer away this summer. Recent reports indicated that Süper Lig side Beşiktaş J.K. have expressed interest in signing Facundo Pellistri during the upcoming transfer window.
According to these reports, Beşiktaş have approached Manchester United to inquire about the conditions for a summer transfer. While it’s not explicitly clear if this would be a permanent transfer or a loan deal, the nature of the inquiry suggests it would likely be a full transfer.
Additionally, last week, it was revealed that Brazilian club Flamengo is also keen on signing the young international this summer. Flamengo has a strong working relationship with United, having previously arranged Andreas Pereira’s loan move in 2021 before his subsequent sale to Fulham.
Now, a third club, and the second from Brazil, has shown interest in Pellistri: the iconic Corinthians. Reports suggest that he is “on their radar” for the summer window as they search for an attacker fitting his profile.
Pellistri’s current contract with Manchester United runs until 2025, leaving his long-term future still undecided.
