Manchester United ‘made’ THREE bids totalling £120m yesterday, one rejected
With pre-season now underway, Manchester United are very much getting into the swing of the transfer window, making three reported bids yesterday.
On Monday morning, a wide range of Manchester United players, including Marcus Rashford, André Onana, and Harry Maguire, all reported to Carrington for their first day of pre-season training.
While the players arrived, the club’s new staff also reported for the first days of preparation. A recruitment meeting was held as those such as Erik ten Hag and Jason Wilcox all reported for duty.

While the club shared official photos of the first day back at work, Monday also saw reports of three separate bids being made by United. Here, we have broken down what was said.
Jarrad Branthwaite
The first bid that reportedly went in was a second offer for Everton’s central defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who is seen as a key signing under Ten Hag this summer.
United’s first proposal of around £35 million plus bonuses was rejected, and on Monday evening, a second bid of £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons reportedly went in.
However, within hours, subsequent news filtered out from those such as Fabrizio Romano that Everton had already rejected the bid, valuing him closer to the £70 million mark. Whether the club go in for a third bid is yet to be known.
Manuel Ugarte
While the Jarrad Branthwaite news was hot off the press, further news from le10sport claimed that United had also submitted a bid of around £38 million for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, with the club looking to sign a new midfielder this summer.
United are said to be optimistic about signing the Uruguay international. The bid also contains several “bonuses.” This offer has yet to be rejected, and the decision is reportedly up to club manager Luis Enrique.
Joshua Zirkzee
Last but not least, there was also further news surrounding United’s pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee. according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, United have formally informed Bologna that they intend to pay the £34 million release clause for the Dutch international.
However, subsequent reports from The Athletic have explained that, while the club has agreed to the £34 million, they are pondering whether it is better to try to strike a deal with Bologna where the sum can be paid over a series of months rather than as a lump sum.
He is said to have already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract, with the move more seen as a matter of when, not if.
