According to reports from Germany, Manchester United have enquired about the possibility of signing three Bayern Munich players in 2025.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich were engaged in multiple talks last summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s club looked to improve Erik ten Hag‘s defence.

Through a summer of negotiations, the clubs finally agreed on a double transfer for an initial £50 million fee, which saw both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussiar Mazraoui join Old Trafford.

The centre-back and right-back have had mixed starts to life at their new club under Ten Hag, who managed both players while at Ajax.

Mazraoui has been one of the side’s best performers, while De Ligt has received both praise and criticism following a mixed set of games and results.

Another Bayern double?

However, as the club turns towards the 2025 transfer window, reports from Germany have stated that United is interested in potentially signing three more players from the Bundesliga outfit.

According to the transfer specialist Florian Plettenberg, United are monitoring the situations of midfielder Leon Goretzka and winger Leroy Sané in the summer, although the possibility of a January transfer is also mentioned.

Goretzka has a contract with Bayern until 2026, while Sané’s current deal expires in June 2025. However, it is mentioned that the winger is in talks to extend his current deal, while Goretzka would like to continue at the Bavaria club.

A third Bavarian target

However, on Tuesday morning, Plettenberg revealed that United are also eyeing a third player from Munich, with Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies on their radar, too.

United have struggled at left back in the last 12 months, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both sustaining long-term injuries. This has meant that Diogo Dalot, the club’s best right back, has had to cover there.

United reportedly “desires” Davies and the club has gathered information on the 23-year-old, but it deems the transfer unlikely.

Davies is also said to be of interest to Real Madrid, who see him as a top target. His contract expires in 2025, meaning he would be a free transfer should he refuse to agree on a new deal.
