Manchester United winger Antony has been blasted for being “not very good” as rumours swirl surrounding a potential exit from Old Trafford this summer.

Antony‘s tenure at Manchester United has not unfolded as many had anticipated since his big-money move in 2022. The Brazilian winger joined the club alongside Erik ten Hag, who also arrived at Old Trafford that summer.

Antony’s transfer, which cost the club around £85 million late in the summer window, was met with criticism due to the hefty price tag. However, he quickly silenced doubters with standout performances, scoring in key matches against Arsenal, Everton, and Manchester City.

Unfortunately, his early promise faded as defenders began to exploit his overreliance on his left foot. With rising talents like Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo delivering impressive performances, Antony’s place in the starting lineup came under threat.

The Athletic have reported that United are open to offers for Antony this summer but that there have been few concrete enquiries surrounding the player.

This comes after former United defender Paul Parker admitted that he now feels Antony is not a very good player after his two poor seasons at Old Trafford.

“I really don’t know,” Parker told mybettingsites when asked about the Brazilian. “Blimey. I was hoping last season, after his first season, that he was going to show something. I was hoping that with a full pre-season, his second season in Manchester would serve a purpose.

“It only served a purpose to let everyone know that it’s a fact and it’s written in stone that he’s not very good. He’s just not very good. I look at his left foot, and normally you say people have got a wand as a left foot, he’s got a log.

“He came on against Liverpool, and he was meant to come in and go at left back and started sulking. Any manager of my time, and I’d say around the 2000’s and 2010’s, especially a British manager, you would never have complained.

“You’d maybe pull a face internally within yourself, and then you might talk about it after. But the last thing you do is make a rumpus and affect your teammates because his teammates would have been worrying what someone like him would do next if they’re unhappy.

“At the moment in time, the team is not the first in mind for quite a few of these players. It’s more themselves.”
