Erik ten Hag is expected to be gifted three lucky breaks as Manchester United prepare to face Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag is contending with fifteen potential injuries as he selects his Manchester United XI to face Sheffield United as the club look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

United have won one of their last seven games in the competition – a 2-0 win over Everton, with the other six ending in three draws and three losses.

Despite this, André Onana has received a lot of praise for his individual performances. He will start once again as he continues his streak of playing every Premier League game this season.

In defence, Ten Hag is expected to get his first lucky break. Harry Maguire revealed he played the entire FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City with an injury but is likely to remain available on Wednesday evening.

Due to further injuries, he will probably partner with Casemiro at centre-back again, with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the right and left flanks, respectively.

In midfield, United confirmed on Sunday afternoon that Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat were not available for the game due to injury, so the middle three is expected to remain the same.

Scott McTominay, who scored the opening goal in the FA Cup semi-final, will start at the base, with Kobbie Mainoo ahead of him. Ten Hag’s second fortunate break comes in the form of Bruno Fernandes, who the Dutch manager admitted had an injury. He is expected to be fit enough to start.

In attack, one change is expected following an injury to Marcus Rashford. Ten Hag told reporters on Tuesday that Rashford’s availability was “doubtful” after he was spotted limping out of Wembley Stadium, and it is thought that Antony will likely replace the Englishman in attack.

Rasmus Højlund, who scored the winning penalty, will start up front, and Ten Hag’s final lucky break comes in the form of Alejandro Garnacho. Garnacho had a problem during the semi-final and had to come off in the second half, but is expected to be fit and start against Sheffield.
