Five stars are unavailable for Manchester City as Rúben Amorim delivers the latest Manchester United injury news for the Premier League this weekend.

Rúben Amorim is preparing Manchester United for a pivotal Premier League clash against Manchester City, a key test in his early tenure as head coach.

United approach the match on the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 comeback victory over FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League, with substitute Rasmus Højlund netting both goals. With the festive domestic schedule now in full swing, all eyes turn to this high-stakes encounter.

Manchester City are enduring a difficult spell, winning just one of their last ten matches in all competitions. Earlier this season, Rúben Amorim’s Sporting handed Pep Guardiola a crushing 4-1 defeat, a result that still looms over City’s struggles.

With City’s bid for a fifth consecutive Premier League title fading, United will aim to pile on the pressure and climb from 13th place, as the teams face off in a highly anticipated clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Amorim’s positive injury news

For the first time in over a year, Manchester United can say that they have an entirely available squad as they prepare to face City this weekend.

In the last seven days, both Toby Collyer and Victor Lindelöf were able to train under Amorim for the first time, with Jonny Evans also returning to training on Wednesday morning after a two-week absence from the squad.

Harry Maguire has also returned to action in the last few weeks after an eight-week issue, while Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro are thought to be close to full fitness after their respective spells on the sidelines.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday evening, Amorim revealed that, with Evans having returned, he has an entirely fit squad to choose from, pointing to the fact that Shaw may be expected to return following his absence this week.

Asked if there were any knocks against Plzen, Amorim said: “I don’t think so. It was five minutes ago, so I have to see it.

“But no, just some players were tired in the end, you could see it, also because of the transitions, it was a crazy game in the end today. But I think everyone is going to be fit and ready to win the game. [What about Jonny Evans?] Yeah, he’s training already.”

Man City injury latest

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is undergoing his own injury crisis with multiple key stars expected to miss the upcoming tie at the Etihad Stadium.

For their 2-0 loss against Juventus earlier this week, the Spaniard had five players unavailable, with none expected back in time for the weekend.

Centre-back John Stones is out until later this month with a muscle injury, while defensive partner Manuel Akanji is also sidelined with a knock.

Nathan Ake’s hamstring injury and Oscar Bobb’s leg fracture are expected to keep the pair out until mid-January, while midfielder Rodri is out until the end of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury sustained in September.
