Amad, Mainoo, Garnacho: Full Manchester United injury news as Brentford problem arises
Erik ten Hag has several injury concerns as Manchester United prepare to face Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United are preparing to return to Premier League action after the international break, with Erik ten Hag taking the opportunity to assess his squad ahead of a vital fixture against Brentford.
United’s start to the 2024/25 season has been far from ideal. They are 14th in the Premier League and have not won in their first two Europa League games.

This underwhelming form has put Ten Hag under increasing pressure, with many fans anticipating an announcement of his dismissal last week.
However, a hard-fought draw against Aston Villa seems to have given Ten Hag a temporary reprieve. He has the next few days to evaluate his squad and make key decisions ahead of the Brentford match.
Latest injury news
Throughout the international break, United saw multiple players pull out of their respective national games due to injury, with Kobbie Mainoo the most severe concern for Ten Hag.
Since then, United confirmed he will be out “for a few weeks” after receiving a knock against Villa.
It has been claimed that the 19-year-old may be unavailable for up to four weeks, which would rule him out until mid-November.
Harry Maguire, who was taken off at half-time against Aston Villa, has been ruled out for several weeks and is not expected back in action until the end of the month or possibly the beginning of November.
Luke Shaw is expected back soon but not in time to face Brentford, while Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia are not expected back until November at the earliest—although reports from the Netherlands claim he could be back before the end of October.
Manuel Ugarte hobbled off during Urugauay’s 0-0 draw with Ecuador on Tuesday evening. He flew back to Manchester and underwent a recovery session at Carrington on Thursday.
The number of injury concerns shows that Ten Hag certainly has a selection headache against Brentford, particularly in the defensive area, where no clear left-back option is available.
Ten Hag will provide a comprehensive update on his team’s fitness status during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
Positive updates
In positive news, Mason Mount may return to training after he missed the club’s last two fixtures against FC Porto and Aston Villa due to a blow to the head against Tottenham Hotspur.
Mount is seen as a critical part of Ten Hag’s plan for the club, but he has suffered multiple injury problems since his arrival in the summer of 2023. It is yet to be seen if he can be part of the squad that faces Brentford, but United confirmed that he is in training.
On Thursday evening, United confirmed that Amad Diallo, Noussair Mazraoui, and Alejandro Garnacho had all returned to training after the trio missed their respective international fixtures during the recent break.
However, it remains to be seen if Mazraoui will be fit to play after he underwent minor surgery after suffering from heart palpitations.
Rasmus Højlund missed a training session last week with Denmark but started and played 57 minutes in their 2-2 draw with Switzerland as he works to regain full fitness following a hamstring injury sustained in August.
