Martínez, Maguire, Shaw: Manchester United latest injury news as Rúben Amorim shares update
Rúben Amorim has shared the latest injury news as Manchester United prepare to face Ipswich Town in his first fixture as the club’s head coach.
Rúben Amorim is gearing up to lead Manchester United in his first match as head coach, as his team travel to face Ipswich Town in a key Premier League encounter.
The match, set for Sunday afternoon, ensures United’s players have ample recovery time following an international break where 13 of them were in action, while others worked on regaining fitness after injuries.

United currently sit 13th in the Premier League, but the mood has brightened under Ruud van Nistelrooy, who steadied the team after a difficult period under Erik ten Hag. There is a renewed sense of belief among fans and players alike.
Despite their current standing, United are only four points off Arsenal and Chelsea, who both occupy Champions League qualification spots—highlighting how tight the race for Europe remains.
Amorim’s injury update
Speaking to club media, Amorim was asked about the latest injury news, where he explained that the coaches are slowing building Luke Shaw’s fitness and that others are starting to return from injury too.
“We have to see; we have one more training,” Amorim said. “But Luke, for example, is feeling fine, but we have to build his fitness during games, so we have to be careful. I think he’s a very good player, so I will take care of him and I want these kinds of players that are important in our squad for a long period and not just for a game.
“We have some guys returning from injury, so we had some moments together, working in that indoor pitch [on] tactical work.
“We have to manage the load during this week with some players from national teams [as well], but we are ready to face Ipswich.”
Other players
Beyond the update on Shaw, United have five players who are unavailable to face the Tractor Boys.
Three players may be out of action in defence. Harry Maguire has yet to return to training after an injury against Aston Villa last month ruled him out of action for at least a month.
At the same time, Victor Lindelöf and Lisandro Martínez had to withdraw from international duty, and there have been no updates on their conditions, although the club are expected to assess the pair soon.
In midfield, United are without Academy duo Dan Gore and Toby Collyer. Both players were ruled out last month and have yet to return to training, although there have been reports that Gore may become involved in the coming days.
