Manchester United hit with double injury update amid fantastic Brentford win
Manchester United have been hit with a double injury update following Erik ten Hag’s fantastic win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United pulled off a thrilling 2-1 comeback against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday, securing all three points after falling behind.
Brentford struck first, with Ethan Pinnock heading in from a corner just before the break. But United roared back in the second half, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund finding the back of the net, thanks to superb assists from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.

Matthijs de Ligt also shone in defence, delivering a courageous performance despite suffering a head injury that left him bloodied in the first half.
This victory pushes United back into the top half of the table as they look to turn around their rough start to the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Ten Hag’s injury update
United had several players missing for the tie, with a recent hamstring injury to Kobbie Mainoo and absences for Harry Maguire and Mason Mount, among other long-term issues for Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia and others.
However, just before the tie, Ten Hag confirmed that 20-year-old senior squad member Toby Collyer also sustained an injury, meaning he was unavailable for the squad that faced Brentford.
With only Christian Eriksen and Casemiro as the team’s deeper midfielders, United Academy star Jack Fletcher, son of former Red Darren Fletcher, made the bench for the first time.
Although Fletcher did not take to the field to make his debut, it was a fantastic occasion for him, with his family being granted seats in the director’s box.
Højlund fitness update
In better news, goalscorer Højlund provided fans with a positive update on his fitness.
Højlund missed the first six weeks of the season with a hamstring issue but has since returned and has started the club’s last three games, scoring two goals.
Højlund had been struggling with a minor issue during the international break and came off after around 75 minutes against Brentford. But speaking after the win, the Danish striker confirmed that he is completely fit to play.
“Obviously, having an injury in the beginning of the season and now being 100 per cent fit is a very good experience,” he told MUTV at full-time.
I’m just trying to bring everything I can every time I step onto the pitch, especially here.”
