Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbi’s situation on loan at Sevilla has been described as “doomed” after Quique Sánchez Flores called him out.

Hannibal, 21, moved to the Spanish club on loan in January after starting just one Premier League game for United in the first half of the season.

However, the midfielder has played just 37 minutes for the La Liga side in three substitute appearances.

Last time out, the 21-year-old came on in the 94th minute against Valencia, playing a single minute before the full-time whistle.

According to Estadio Deportivo, with manager Sánchez Flores clearly not happy with the player, Hannibal’s situation is considered as “doomed” with Sevilla highly unlikely to trigger the buy-option in his deal.

This follows shortly from the Spanish manager’s explanation of Hannibal’s lack of minutes, suggesting that he needs to offer more than just his talent.

“I have tried to explain to him the situation we are in, which is similar to the club where he comes from,” he told reporters last week. “Where sacrifice is above talented virtues.

We are not going anywhere with talent alone; we need organization; I want and desire to play. He has the conditions, but he has to understand all this.”

Sevilla currently sit 15th in the La Liga table, just seven points above the relegation zone.

Hannibal reportedly had a training ground bust-up with teammate Mariano shortly after he arrived in Spain. This was then disputed by United sources.

The Tunisian midfielder joined Manchester United from AS Monaco in 2019 and has made 13 appearances for the first-team.
