Manchester United are reportedly considering a shock deal for a Serie A forward in the January transfer window to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Ruben Amorim began his role as Manchester United head coach last week and is now preparing for his first match in charge this weekend.

United will take on Ipswich Town in the Premier League, marking the start of a demanding winter schedule that features challenging games against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Currently 13th in the league standings, Amorim will aim to enhance the team’s playing style and climb up the table, with just four points separating them from the top four spots.

According to Mark Brus of the Daily Briefing, AC Milan star Christian Pulisic is a option for United in the January window to bolster the squad this season.

It was explained that the Old Trafford club are expected to be among the clubs to check on his availability in the coming weeks, with Arsenal and Liverpool also interested in the former Chelsea forward.

Pulisic spent four years at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League but failed to ever really impress like he was expected to when joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

Since he moved to Italy last year, the American international has been thriving. Last term he scored 15 goals and registered 11 assists.

So far this season, the winger has seven goals and five assists in 15 appearances in all competitions, which includes two goals in the Champions League.

The report added that a fee slightly over £50 million could be required to test the waters to the Serie A club, who won’t want to lose Pulisic in the mid-season market.

This may be that that will be viewed as too big an investment for the middle of the season, although the winger’s wage demands are considered affordable for top end Premier League clubs.

Amorim would likely not be against strengthening his forward line, which has been underwhelming under the previous management of Erik ten Hag.

However, after the club splurged the cash on sacking Ten Hag and bringing in Amorim and his coaching team, it seems unlikely that any significant funds will be available in January.
