Man United star’s agent made “clear” stance amid potential January loan deal
Amidst rumours regarding his future, Manchester United winger Antony’s desire to stay at the club has been outlined.
Starting 23 out of 25 Premier League matches in his first season at United, Antony’s minutes were reduced last season with just 15 starts out of 29 appearances.
With just one Premier League goal last year, the Brazilian now finds himself behind both Alejandro Garnacho and Amad in the fight for minutes off the right side.
With Antony’s place in the pecking order seemingly reduced, rumours have persisted that Erik ten Hag may allow the Brazilian attacker may leave the club.
Most recently, a report from CaughtOffside stated that fellow Premier League side Newcastle would welcome a move for the winger if they are unsuccessful in attempting to sign former United youngster Anthony Elanga.
Discussing reports that Antony may leave United either on loan or permanently, the United star’s agent Junior Pedroso said the following earlier this year:
“I see reports about a potential exit on loan. Antony’s plan is clear: Manchester United.
“He wants to stay, he’s only focused on Man United. We already spoke about that with the club.”
As recently as this week, Antony’s desire to stay at Manchester United was corroborated by Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel about the suggestion Antony may be open to a move to SuperLig side Fenerbache, Romano said the following:
“With respect to Fenerbache, with respect to Jose Mourinho – the idea of Antony is to stay at Manchester United.
“He is part of the squad for this season [and] he wants to return to his best level this season. So, no intentions to leave Manchester United.”
As of the time of writing, Antony’s 83 appearances for United put him ahead of all other Erik ten Hag signings, bar Casemiro (87).
However, with his sole appearance this season so far being a matter of minutes against Brighton, his long-term future remains unclear.
