One Manchester United starlet has received a surprising piece of news, and supporters will certainly be happy about it.

The academy at United in recent years has made major improvements, and that has been seen by the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho into the first team.

Both players have quickly become key parts of Erik ten Hag’s team and many would argue that they’ve been two of the only consistent performing players this term.

After the Under-18s won the league earlier this week, many fans have been eyeing the next potential star to come from the youth team.

Shea Lacey is one name that has become very popular among the fanbase, with the 17-year-old being rated as one of the top talents at Carrington.

Despite suffering an injury earlier this year which kept him out until last month, Lacey has been sighted training with the first-team squad in recent weeks.

The young winger also signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford earlier this month and it seems like an opportunity for him could come sooner rather than later.

A new report from Ben Jacobs has detailed that United believe Shea Lacey has several ‘top talents” and is ready to step up to first-team level to be utilised during the final few weeks of the season.

This suggests that Lacey could be the 250th academy player to make their debut for the club, although Harry Amass is also pushing on the door for that opportunity after being included in two matchday squads.

It might be surprising news since Lacey has spent much of the season out of action through the injury, but it also shows how highly he is rated within the club.

Fans have been very excited about the youth integration in recent years and Lacey’s potential inclusion towards the end of the season will be another moment that those supporters wll anticipate.
