Man United star receives huge compliment from Erik ten Hag after Europa League squad confirmed
One Manchester United star has received a huge compliment from Erik ten Hag after their Europa League squad was confirmed.
Manchester United have announced their 25-man A List squad for this season’s Europa League, and one inclusion is somewhat surprising.
The Reds have endured a challenging start to the Premier League season and will be looking to bounce back after the international break.
Erik ten Hag’s team also targets success in their Europa League run, with the new competition format outlined here. United will take on the likes of Rangers, Porto, and Fenerbahce in the group stage.
After the 25-man squad was announced, many United fans were initially concerned about why Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were omitted.
However, they do not need to be included in the A-List squad as they are eligible to be on the B-List.
A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2003 and has been eligible to play for the club for two years, with both of United’s young starlets fitting that category.
However, Harry Amass is another young talent trying to push his way into the first team. He only joined the club from Watford at the start of last season, which means he is ineligible for the B-List.
That is why Ten Hag decided to include the 17-year-old talent in the 25-man A-List squad. He will hope to get chances in the Europa League this season.
While the club’s first-team squad is not particularly big after a large amount of summer exits, it is still a good sign of faith that Amass is trusted with a position in the squad.
Ten Hag eased expectations on the left-back after a strong pre-season but he could soon test the teenager in a competitive professional environment.
