Man United receive two fresh Mason Greenwood options, including shock swap deal
Manchester United have received two fresh options for Mason Greenwood as one report states a shock swap deal is being considered.
The club announced that Mason Greenwood would not restart his career at Old Trafford. This decision came after the player was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse in January 2022.
Although the CPS eventually dropped the case, United conducted its own internal investigation, which took several months.
Despite nearly reinstating the player, fan pressure compelled the club to loan Greenwood to Getafe for the 2023/24 season.
He excelled for the La Liga side, winning their Player of the Season award, and has several suitors for the upcoming summer transfer window.
One option that has emerged in recent weeks has been a loan deal to Borussia Dortmund. Various reports have suggested that the German club are interested in the 22-year-old.
The Bundesliga club’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has refused to rule out an approach for Greenwood in the coming months.
Meanwhile, according to the Daily Star, Atletico Madrid are among several European clubs interested in signing Greenwood and the La Liga club is prepared to offer Joao Felix in exchange for the United forward.
Felix is eager to secure a permanent move away from Madrid this summer. He has had a mixed time with the club that signed him for £113 million in 2019.
The report explained that Atletico has proposed including Felix in a deal that would send Greenwood to Diego Simeone’s team, and United are evaluating whether Felix would be a good fit at Old Trafford.
However, it was added that the 24-year-old would prefer to join a club that can offer him Champions League football next season.
