Man United players slammed by pundits after embarrassing Brentford draw, one man in particular
Manchester United players were slammed by pundits as they drew 1-1 against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening.
Erik ten Hag’s side were very fortunate to even get a point from the game. Despite Mason Mount’s late goal, it would’ve simply been unfair if United won.
It was a dismal display and one of the worst of a very bad season. It comes one game after the best match of the campaign against Liverpool and one that provided a little hope for supporters.
Speaking at half-time in the game, Jamie Redknapp was particularly critical of the lack of effort of some of the players from the visiting side, highlighting Marcus Rashford’s display in particular.
“Man United fans would have probably been really looking forward to tonight, after what was the back of a brilliant result against Liverpool, and you thought they might have turned their season around,” said Redknapp on Sky Sports.
“They have been so bad tonight. I cannot believe the lack of effort, the lack of spark, desire to win individual battles to make things happen in that team.
“I’m watching Marcus Rashford, he’s walking around like it’s a bit of fun out there. It’s the Premier League, you’ve got to try and win games. We’ve been amazed at how poor Manchester United have been.”
United conceded 31 shots in the game, and it was the ninth time in the last 11 games that they have conceded more than 20 shots.
“As an ex-United player, what’s hurting me most is the reaction to when they lose the ball,” added Dion Dublin.
“When they lose the ball, it’s very much like, oh, my team-mate will get it back, it’s not good enough. I don’t care who you’re playing for, whether United or Brentford.
“If you lose the ball, you get it back, and I’ve not seen it from Man United, and it’s disappointing to see.”
