Manchester United could discover some important news in the coming weeks as INEOS make further developments at Old Trafford.

The Reds have had difficulties this term under Erik ten Hag, exiting the Champions League and Carabao Cup in the early stages.

Currently sitting sixth in the Premier League, 11 points behind Aston Villa in fifth place, it seems that the FA Cup is the last chance of success this campaign for United.

This has certainly placed question marks over manager Ten Hag’s head, and while he’s faced difficulties, such as injuries, his future at Old Trafford is not guaranteed.

INEOS are looking to bring the “best in class” to every role at the club. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already agreed to hire Omar Berrada as the new chief executive.

Deals for Dan Ashworth to become a sporting director and Jason Wilcox to become a technical director are awaiting compensation agreements with Newcastle and Southampton, respectively.

And so, there will also be conversations to be had over Ten Hag’s position. There have already been many reports about potential candidates, with Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi and Graham Potter among the managers linked.

Yet many supporters believe that Julian Nagelsmann is one of only a couple of suitable candidates for the position.

Despite being sacked by Bayern Munich last year, Nagelsmann had an excellent record at the Bundesliga club, as he did during his prior jobs at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.

Nagelsmann has been linked to the Old Trafford job but is set to manage Germany at Euro 2024 this summer and would start the job later than INEOS would ideally want if he did come into the role.

However, it is expected that the talented manager will return to club management after the summer tournament, so he aims to have his future defined before the European Championships start.

Rudi Völler, currently the director of the German national team, hired Nagelsmann for the country but also understands that there is a lot of interest in the manager for after the Euros.

He has also revealed that there will be a decision in the coming weeks from Nagelsmann about his next steps.

As quoted by DPA, as per Fabrizio Romano, Völler said: “There will be a decision in the next few weeks. He has a lot of inquiries.

“It’s no secret that we would like to continue with him, but he has many top clubs to choose from. We hope he stays with us.”
