Man United dealt major blow in transfer battle as expected payment for Mason Mount revealed
Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in the race for Napoli defender Kim Min-jae, who is ‘advancing fast’ towards Bayern Munich.
Kim, 26, has been on United’s radar as their primary centre-back target to bolster their backline.
However, the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano are not encouraging for the Old Trafford club. The Italian journalist stated that the Bundesliga champions have presented their project to the South Korean this week and an agreement on personal terms is now close.
He added that talks are advancing fast, whilst United remain interested.
The Serie A winner has a release clause which is said to be between £43-60 million which activates at the beginning of July.
Meanwhile, United are pursuing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount and have recently had a £40 million bid for the Englishman rejected.
Chelsea’s stance is to stay firm at £70 million but the London club are in need of player sales ahead of the end of the month due to financial fair play.
Latest reports from Chris Wheeler of The Daily Mail say that United are expected to pay in the region of £60 million for Mount, who has just one year left on his remaining deal at Stamford Bridge.
Previous information has explained that United are confident of completing a deal for the player and making him the first signing of the summer for Erik ten Hag.
The United boss wants more athleticism in midfield and believes that Mount’s pressing, versatility and intelligence would make him an ideal fit as a No.8 in his team.
