“Whatever happens…” Luke Shaw & Anthony Martial provide double Man United future update
Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw have both shared updates on their Manchester United future as the former departs from Old Trafford this summer.
Anthony Martial is set to leave Manchester United this summer after nine years at the club. During his career at Old Trafford, he scored 90 goals and provided 47 assists across 317 appearances.
Martial won two League Cups, the FA Cup, a Europa League trophy, and the Community Shield during his time at United, and has provided fans with some of the club’s happiest memories across the last decade.

“After nine incredible years at the club, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career,” the French striker wrote in a heartwrenching statement on social media on Monday evening.
“Since I arrived in 2015, I have had the immense honour of wearing this shirt and playing in front of you, the best supporters in the world! You have been an unwavering support, through the good times and the difficult. Your passion and loyalty have been a constant source of motivation for me.
“I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me. Your songs, your encouragement and your love for the club are memories that will remain engraved in my heart forever.
“I would also like to express my gratitude to all my team-mates, technical staff and all the members of the club I have met during my 9 years here. I am proud to have been able to share these experiences with you,’ he continued.
“Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you.
“I’m leaving to take on new challenges, I’ll always be a Red Devil and I’ll continue to follow the club’s results with passion.
“Thank you again for everything, and see you soon. With all my affection, Anthony Martial.”
Martial was not the only player to provide an update on his future on Monday, with English left-back Luke Shaw also handing a message to fans.
Although Shaw has been selected in the preliminary England squad for the European Championships this coming summer, he has suffered who long-term injuries this season, playing just 15 times under Erik ten Hag since the start of the campaign.
“Happy for the boys to lift the trophy at the weekend and finish this season on a positive,” Shaw began, referencing the recent FA Cup win. “As much as it was the result I wanted it was hard to watch from the stands.
“This has definitely been the most frustrating season for me, I have had set back after set back and have worked so hard to get back to fitness but things just haven’t gone my way. I pushed so hard to get back before the end of the season and the final but some things just aren’t meant to be.”
Shaw went on to squash reports and rumours of his dedication to the club, confirming that there is nothing he wants to do more than play for United.
“There’s nothing I want to do more than play and win with Manchester United I don’t normally react to things I see on social media but there’s a lot of people questioning my loyalty to this club and asking how I am fit for England but not United.
“The reality is I am not 100% fit for either right now but I am doing everything I can and constantly working to be. I have been at this club for 10 years through highs and lows and for anyone to question my loyalty is obviously frustrating.
“I appreciate I haven’t updated you all with my injuries and where I’m at with my recovery but equally the most important thing to me is that we’re supporting the team playing. My biggest focus right now is being fit and then whatever happens this summer I will be ready. Thank you for your patience.”
