With Liam Delap having held face-to-face talks with Manchester United about a possible transfer this summer, there is a clear timeline for a final decision.
Manchester United are pressing ahead with attempting to secure Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this summer as they look to add significant talent to Rúben Amorim’s misfiring front line.
Bruno Fernandes will secure himself as the club’s top scorer this season, with 19 to his name ahead of the Europa League final. Only Alejandro Garnacho, Amad, and Rasmus Højlund have managed to get themselves into double digits for goals, with the former on 11 and the other two on ten for the campaign.
Delap debuted in the Premier League with Ipswich this season, notching 12 goals despite his side winning just four games in the competition under Keiran McKenna, which is more than any United player this season.
Although there are questions surrounding whether Delap should be United’s only striker signing as he is only 22, there is little doubt that the Englishman is a very promising striker talent for the future.

United are not the only side interested in him this summer. The club faces intense competition from Chelsea, Newcastle, and across Europe, with almost every top Premier League side monitoring his current situation.
Delap is certain to leave Ipswich this summer amid his £30 million release clause, and according to The Athletic, the eastern club have given their blessing for Delap to speak face to face with his suitors.
The report states that United’s executives met with Delap to map out what a future at Old Trafford would look like for him. Although United are in a precarious financial position, they are confident they have all the funding needed to secure his signing.
However, it is also noted that the 22-year-old will enter meaningful discussions with all his significant suitors before making a decision regarding where he wants to play next season.
Delap transfer confirmation timeline explained
United will find out whether or not Delap wants to sign for Amorim’s men within the next month.
According to multiple reports, Delap wants to sign for his next club before he embarks with England in their quest for U21 European Championship glory, with the competition kicking off on 11 June.
Delap will likely meet with Chelsea either this week or next, and will then make his decision on which club he wants to join. However, it has already been reported that he is leaning towards signing for United regardless of the outcome of the Europa League final.
Alongside Delap, United are close to finally securing Matheus Cunha. A deal for the player is expected to be established next week so the Brazilian can sign from Wolverhampton Wanderers once the transfer window opens on 1 June.
