Manchester United have been handed a verdict on whether Leny Yoro can return against Leicester City as Rúben Amorim’s team play their final fixture before the international break.

Manchester United are returning to domestic action as they face Leicester City in the Premier League, with Rúben Amorim aiming to capitalise on a good performance in midweek.

United were fantastic as they defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday evening, booking their place in the final eight of the competition, where they will face Olympique Lyonnais across two legs.

However, with this tie not set to take place until next month, United’s immediate focus is returning to the Premier League as they aim to climb from 14th in the league table.

The Leicester fixture also sees United face club legend and former coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, who managed United for four games as an interim boss before Amorim took over in November, for the second time this season.

United have already faced Leicester City three times this season, winning in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Premier League. However, all three of these games were at Old Trafford, while this upcoming tie takes place at the King Power Stadium.

Can Leny Yoro play vs Leicester?

United centre-back Leny Yoro was forced off after 45 minutes against Arsenal last weekend and was replaced on the pitch by Ayden Heaven.

The Frenchman was then ruled out of United’s fixture against Sociedad entirely as Heaven made his full professional debut and was fantastic across the 90 minutes, putting in a quality shift at Old Trafford.

While some may have been worried that Yoro’s absence could have spelt danger for United amid all their other defensive injuries, Heaven’s performance in midweek has put these concerns to bed.

Amorim has confirmed that although Yoro’s injury is not a long-term issue, he will be unavailable to play Leicester.

“No, no [Yoro’s absence] is not long term,” the head coach said on Wednesday when previewing the Sociedad tie. “Leny cannot play this game and the other game [Leicester].”

United’s other injury news

Aside from Yoro, Amorim has a host of other players he has to worry about replacing ahead of the Premier League clash.

Lisandro Martínez is out for the campaign, while Amad may only return a few games before the final day of the season, while Kobbie Mainoo is yet to return to action following a calf injury.

Jonny Evans is still struggling with a muscle problem, and both goalkeepers Altay Bayındır and Tom Heaton remain out of action, while Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are not expected to feature. Patrick Dorgu is suspended as he serves the third match of a three-game domestic ban.

However, Manuel Ugarte returned to the matchday squad in midweek which is a welcome boost, while Mason Mount was spotted in training for the first time in three months on Wednesday.

But, it remains unclear whether the English midfielder is fit enough to be involved on Sunday afternoon, as Amorim may choose to exclude him and allow him to slowly build his fitness during the international break.
