Lausanne-Sport release statement on Enzo Kana-Biyak deal, Manchester United loanee praised for three key attributes

Laussane-Sport have released a statement on their new loan signing Enzo Kana-Biyik, who joins the club on loan from Manchester United after his transfer from Le Havre

On Thursday morning, Manchester United announced the transfer of young striker Enzo Kana-Biyik from Le Havre after his 18-goal season in the under-19s last season.

Kana-Biyik adds to the already exciting young strike-force at United, with notable academy prospects Gabriele Biancheri and Chido Obi already at the club.

United’s focus on young talent has been clear to see since Sir Jim Ratcliffe established his new recruitment team, with Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell at its heart.

Several academy signings have already been made this summer, with Harley Emsden-James joining from Southampton as a central defender and Diego Leon joining the club from Paraguay.

Unlike other young players, Leon could join Rúben Amorim’s first-team squad from the outset, with the Portuguese manager looking for stability at left wing back behind Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu.

Kana-Biyik praised in Lausanne announcement

With his permanent move to Old Trafford now confirmed, Lausanne-Sport, also owned by INEOS, have announced that Kana-Biyik will spend next season on loan at the Swiss club.

In their official announcement, Lausanne described Kana-Biyik as a “pure talent”, also confirming that he was called up to the Le Havre first team on two occasions last season.

“A U18 international, Enzo is a powerful and technical striker with a great eye for goal. He will wear the number 22 for LS,” said the INEOS-owned club.

With Lausanne linked with United, they will likely have Kana-Biyik’s best interests at heart and play the youngster as much as they can, without overwhelming him in his first full season of professional football.

A season in Switzerland could help the young striker grow in confidence before he returns to Old Trafford the following year, potentially a more complete player and person than he is currently.

The beginning of the multi-club model

Kana-Biyik’s loan move to Lausanne could be the beginning of United’s multi-club model that so many other Premier League clubs are now utilising to nurture young talent, before they step up to the first team.

Sekou Kone has also been linked with a move to Lausanne this season, after impressing in the under-21s last season, with many fans calling for him to be given his debut towards the end of the season.

Kone, as a Mali youth international, is a French speaker and his loan move to Lausanne could help Kana-Biyik settle in at Old Trafford before he joins the club next season.

Jonny Evans, in his new role as head of pathways, will likely be in contact with Kana-Biyik throughout the season to ensure that spending the year in Switzerland is the best thing for his development.
