Latest team news: Real Betis vs Manchester United (Europa League)
Manchester United will aim to continue their prevailing performances in Europe when they travel to Seville on Thursday to face Real Betis in the second leg of their round of 16 Europa League tie.
Leading 4-1 from the first leg, much of Manchester United‘s hard work in the tie is already done.
Despite an underwhelming couple of weeks, domestically, Erik ten Hag‘s side has been emphatic in Europe. They heavily triumphed in their first-leg win against Real Betis and will be looking to mirror a similar result as they look to ease into the quarter-finals of the competition.
The result of the week prior and with a critical quarter-final tie against Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday, there is an expectation that Ten Hag will ring the changes in and see the fixture as a chance to reintegrate players coming back from injury.
Before the game, this is the most recent team news for both teams:
Manchester United team news
Despite the pragmatic approach, Ten Hag has taken to his rotation in his tenure; he likely sees this fixture as a chance to give game time to younger players that haven’t had much game time and also players coming back from injury.
But, Zidane Iqbal, Kobbie Mainoo, and Anthony Martial have not been named in the squad — players who are all in need of some game time.

Nevertheless, Casemiro’s four-game domestic ban will not prevent him from playing this week, but Ten Hag must still consider a slew of injury issues, with Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen already ruled out.
Alejandro Garnacho also departed Old Trafford on crutches over the weekend, raising concerns that the teenager’s ankle injury is worse than initially thought; it is now believed that he will be out for several weeks.
Speaking on Antony who was not included in the squad, Ten Hag said: “Antony is ill. We have options and we will see tomorrow. We have Elanga, Bruno [Fernandes] and Pelli [Pellistri].”
Victor Lindelof (sickness) and Marcel Sabitzer (knock) will also need to be evaluated, but both players have been named in the travelling squad.
Real Betis team news
As for their Spanish opposition, Joaquin made his sixth Europa League start of the season in the first leg, but Sergio Canales’ return to full fitness may knock his 41-year-old teammate out of the starting lineup today.
Injury added to insult for Real Betis in the first leg, as centre-back Luiz Felipe played the entire 90 minutes but exited with hamstring tightness. He might be out until after the international break.
Felipe is one of three players who will miss Thursday’s game, along with long-term knee injury Nabil Fekir, who will not play again this season, and Juan Cruz. However, William Carvalho returns back into the starting XI from a domestic ban, similar to Casemiro.
