Manchester United are returning to Premier League duty as they face off against Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United emerge victorious from three cup fixtures in a row, besting Barcelona, Newcastle, and West Ham – with Erik ten Hag lifting his first trophy as manager against the Magpies.

The two sides currently sit 10 points apart in the Premier League table, with Manchester United in third and Liverpool sitting in sixth.

United have question marks over two players, while Liverpool could be without up to five players for the tie.

Manchester United team news

United’s two main concerns in relation to availability come in the form of Jadon Sancho and Luke Shaw.

After both players featured in the Carabao Cup final last weekend, neither were available for selection after Ten Hag confirmed that Sancho was ill and Shaw was suffering from a minor injury.

“We hope (it’s) not too bad, we have to see how it develops until Sunday,” Ten Hag told MUTV on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial are still out of action.

“I won’t give a prospective (time), or an expectation about that,” said Ten Hag. “Let him do his work, as several times now, he has been back and he drops back too quickly.

“We (have to) give him the time and I hope he is on board but first, in this moment, we are doing really well in this setup. When he is available, we will have another option, a good option. Let’s give him the time and we will see when he is back. Then we will be happy because we have a quality option extra for the rest of the season.”

Anthony Martial was recently spotted in training once again, training alone rather than in the group as he continues his rehabilitation.

Liverpool team news

Liverpool will be without defender Calvin Ramsay for the fixture, and could also be without Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz as well.

Joe Gomez and Naby Keita are also doubts for the fixture, with Liverpool looking to push themselves into the top-four conversation after it was deemed too far for them just a month ago.
