Manchester United are said to be getting closer to making a final decision on the future of Mason Greenwood.

Mason Greenwood has not played for Manchester United in 16 months after he was indefinitely suspended by the club after accusations of domestic abuse, bodily harm, and threats to kill came to light via social media.

These allegations surfaced in January 2022, and the club took immediate action to suspend the player while a case was put together by the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in October 2022, however, these charges were then dropped and United started their own internal investigation into the matter.

Although no time frame was originally given for the conclusion of the club’s investigation, many reported that a decision would be reached once the season had been concluded.

In a new update, Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News has stated that although a final decision has not been reached, the investigation process has moved forward and a conclusion is “getting closer”.

It is said that a final decision surrounding the future of Mason Greenwood at Manchester United will ultimately be made by the Glazers, in consultation with club chief executive Richard Arnold.

There is a chance that a decision could be finalised during takeover talks, with both Shiekh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe tabling record-breaking offers for the club.
