Latest Manchester United team news: 2 midfielders to miss Charlton clash in Carabao Cup
Manchester United are preparing to reach the semi-final of the Carabao Cup as they face Charlton Athletic in the quarter-finals on Tuesday evening.
Erik ten Hag’s men will host the League One side at Old Trafford, and whilst rotation is expected, there are also two midfielders ruled out of the clash.
Bruno Fernandes will be unavailable due to suspension. He received his second yellow card in the competition in the last round against Burnley.
United’s Portuguese magnifico will return for the semi-final fixture, should The Reds progress.
Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek is out of action after suffering a knee injury against Everton in the FA Cup.
Ten Hag has been unable to give an update on the severity of the injury thus far but from the player’s reaction, it did not look good unfortunately.
Jack Butland could be in contention to make his debut for the club. He joined United on a six-month loan deal last week after Newcastle recalled Martin Dubravka.
Some academy prospects were also in first-team training ahead of the clash. Kobbie Mainoo, Zidane Iqbal and Facundo Pellistri could be in the squad for the encounter.

Meanwhile, the likes of Charlie McNeill and Di’Shon Bernard are looking for January loan deals if the correct opportunity arises. UtdDistrict were told that the latter is targeting a Championship move after returning from injury last month.
Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and Antony have all spent periods on the sidelines for various reasons since club football resumed. They could all be involved on Tuesday to increase match fitness ahead of the Manchester Derby.
