Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Højlund react to Alejandro Garnacho’s 3-word Argentina comment
Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Højlund showed their support to Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho after his first-ever start for Argentina this week.
Garnacho, 19, has now made five appearances for his country, and Lionel Scanoli rewarded him with a start for the first time on Tuesday evening against Costa Rica.
The United winger has been one of the most consistent performers at Old Trafford this season. He has started the last 26 games in a row for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Moving from an impact role player to a consistent starter has surprisingly come with fewer difficulties than originally expected for the Argentine, who has taken large strides in his development over the last 12 months.
On his full debut for his country, Garnacho played 71 minutes and created two chances. He also had a promising cameo off the bench against El Salvador on the weekend.
Following a successful international break for the teenager, he took to Instagram to send a clear message about his ambitions with the Argentina squad ahead of the upcoming 2024 Copa America.
Garnacho wrote: “Nos vemos pronto…” which translates to “See you soon” – he was not included in earlier national squads this term due to form but has turned it around in recent months.
The talented winger was then supported by two of his fellow young and exciting teammates at Old Trafford.
Both Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Højlund responded to the post. Mainoo replied with a love heart emoji, while Højlund opted for a fire emoji.
The young trio have been three of United’s main positives from an ultimately underwhelming season.
It was detailed earlier in the season that the group are close off the pitch, and they clearly aim to help improve the situation at United together.
United return to action on Saturday evening when they travel to Brentford in the Premier League.
