Kobbie Mainoo has named the two best Manchester United players he works with in his first major interview with club media.

Mainoo, 18, has emerged as a key player for Erik ten Hag at United this season after making his full Premier League debut in November against Everton.

The academy graduate has now started 12 Premier League fixtures this term, becoming a mainstay in the lineup.

Whilst United’s campaign has been full of disappointments, the introduction of Mainoo has been one of the few positives for the club and fanbase.

During a new interview with United’s media team, Mainoo hosted a questions and answers session with the club’s under-9s squad.

The young players were able to ask the new first-team star a number of interesting questions, including the best player that Mainoo has played with.

Unable to pick just one, the teenager decided to mention two of his midfield partners.

“I would say Bruno [Fernandes],” replied Kobbie. “Bruno is a top player. Casemiro as well.”

The trio have played in the middle together in recent months, although Jamie Carragher has picked out some issues with the way that Erik ten Hag sets the midfield up at Old Trafford.

Another question that prompted an interesting answer from the 18-year-old was how many goals he’s ever scored.

Whilst Mainoo was unable to pluck out an answer, he did reveal that he used to be a no.9 when he was younger.

“That’s a good one. That’s a tough one,” he said. “I know when I was like your guys’ age and a little bit older, I was a striker, so I would’ve scored a lot around then, but recently, not as many. But I’m trying to get back on the scoresheet a bit more.”

Of course, Mainoo has scored two goals for United’s first-team squad, including his incredible last-minute winner against Wolves.

“I’ve watched it a few hundred times so it’s sunk in now!” expressed Mainoo. “To be honest I hadn’t thought about [the celebration] or anything. It just felt right when I scored it, you know. It was a nice clutch moment.”
