Marcus Rashford has scored the most goals since his return from Qatar, and he is slowly becoming a headache for all defensive units in the game.

In their quest to end their trophy drought, Manchester United will take on Newcastle United n Sunday’s Carabao Cup final. While United will be eager to quench their thirst of winning silverware for the first time in six years.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are looking to win their first trophy in their new era of newfound wealth.

Erik ten Hag’s men are on a red hot form as the team came together to beat Leicester City, 3-0. With Casemiro returning from his suspension and Jadon Sancho slowly regaining his mojo back, the Magpies know that they are in for a scary ride this Sunday.

On that note, Newcastle’s star defender Kieran Trippier made an appearance in United legend Rio Ferdinand’s podcast. In his brief conversation with the former English international, Trippier shed some light on how he intends to douse Rashford’s fiery form in the match.

“It’s going to be important, it’s about the areas of the pitch where I can get tight and when I need to stand off,” Tripper told Rio Ferdinand’s Vibe with Five YouTube channel when asked about how he can stop Rashford. “But I can’t be worrying about him, I need to make him chase me going back to his goal.

“I need to be on the front foot, I need to be positive in my thinking about pushing back and I need to keep him pinned back as much as I can so he’s not a threat near our goal.”

After a disastrous 2022 season where they narrowly finished outside the top half of the table, the Magpies have rejuvenated themselves as they possess a threat to Tottenham Hotspurs in their desire to qualify for the Champions League.

Newcastle United have failed to build on their good start to the season as currently, they sit outside the top four of the Premier League table. With just two wins in their last six matches, Eddie Howe might have to do wonders to have the last laugh at Wembley on February 26.

To further crush their confidence, their star goalkeeper Nick Pope will sit this one out after receiving a straight red card against Liverpool, their last match.

Martin Dubravka, their second-choice custodian is also ineligible to appear as he has already played for the Reds in the competition, whilst he was on loan at Old Trafford. Former Liverpool man Lorius Karius remains the only available goalkeeper for Sunday’s match.
