According to a fresh report from Italy, Manchester United are looking to reactivate a failed attempt to sign an “impressive” forward they tried to secure in 2024.
Manchester United are looking to secure fresh attacking talent this summer as they aim to secure extra goals for Rúben Amorim this summer.
United have lacked in the goalscoring department all season, with Bruno Fernandes the only player close to hitting 20 for the campaign, with Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad barely scraping into double figures.
The club have been closely linked with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, while a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers frontman Matheus Cunha is set to be completed once the window opens on 1 June.
The club have also been closely linked with Premier League talents like Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo, while United are thought to be looking at Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres.
United looking to reactivate transfer for Ndoye
With Amorim’s club also scouring the European continant for value-for-money attacking signings this summer, the club have reportedly landed on the possibility of trying once again to sign Dan Ndoye.
Ndoye, a 24-year-old Swiss international who can play both as a right winger and centre-forward, was a target United tried to secure from Bologna last summer alongside Joshua Zirkzee, with Italian out TuttoSport reporting that the club will attempt to lure him to Old Trafford again this summer.
At the time, Bologna rebuffed United’s attempt, but following the good relations built with the Serie A side after the sale of Zirkzee to Old Trafford. However, they face stiff competition from Juventus for the man who has 12 league goal involvements this campaign.
It is stated that an offer of around £34 million would likely secure the deal, and that United are ready to pounce should a window open to secure Ndoye.
Zirkzee is already working on the transfer
Amid United’s want for Ndoye, it has been previously reported that Zirkzee has already been working to bring the “impressive” player to United this summer.
It was relayed by Italian reports last month that Zirkzee, who struck up a close friendship with Ndoye during their time together at Bologna, is using his relationship to try to convince the Swiss forward to join his club.
Zirkzee and Ndoye were often spotted together at Virtus Bologna, the Italian top-flight Basketball side, as well as featuring prominently on their respective social media pages.
With Amorim looking to sign versatile forwards this summer, Ndoye could be a good value-for-money option, although there have been claims that the club should look to sign more players with Premier League experience instead.
