Jose Mourinho has ruled out signing an ex-Manchester United star at Fenerbahce in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Mourinho, 61, became the new Fenerbahce manager this week after several months away from the field following his departure from AS Roma in January.

The former United boss was keen to get back into the hot seat and has taken on the challenge in Turkey, where Fenerbahce have not won the league for ten years.

He will be reunited with Fred, who he signed at Old Trafford in the summer of 2018, after the Brazilian midfielder moved to the Turkish giants last summer.

However, the Portuguese manager has since ruled out a transfer for another player he worked with at United.

Romelu Lukaku is set to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer after loan spells at Inter Milan and Roma in recent years.

The Belgian striker worked under Mourinho at United and Roma, which has led to reports suggesting that he could be on the move to Turkey, however, the new Fenerbahce boss has clarified this is not a move he is looking at.

“I hear (rumours) that I want Lukaku and (Paulo) Dybala,” Mourinho told BeIN Sports.

“I do not want these players.”

Before his move to the Turkish club became official, Mourinho was on punditry duty for the Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

He commented on the situation surrounding Jadon Sancho, who has now departed the Bundesliga club after his six-month loan. He believes that Erik ten Hag should take fault but that there are also multiple other reasons why the move has seemingly failed.

He added while speaking to Turkish media: “I want my players to trust me. I’m someone who likes to speak directly. I may not always be a good person for them, but I am honest.”
