Joleon Lescott slams poor Man United player in 4-3 win vs Wolves
Despite the dramatic 4-3 victory for Manchester United, ex-Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott was critical of one player during the Premier League clash against Wolves.
It was a crazy last few minutes, which saw the hosts equalise before Kobbie Mainoo scored an incredible winning goal to secure all three points.
United scored twice in the first half, with Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund bagging the goals. It was a dominant display from The Reds, but they needed to keep up the momentum in the second half.
Wolves improved and grew into the game and were then gifted a lifeline when a controversial penalty decision was awarded. Pablo Sarabia slotted the spot-kick away and halved the deficit.
Scott McTominay returned with a goal minutes afterwards, shortly after coming off the bench, with a trademark header after finding space in the box.
It appeared that Erik ten Hag’s side had secured the win but two counter-attacks from Wolves in the closing 10 minutes of the game led to two goals and a level game.
For both goals, Antony was guilty of losing possession cheaply before Wolves launched their attacks. He came on as a substitute for Marcus Rashford.
Lescott was wary of singling out the Brazilian winger after the game, following criticism of his game recently, but still mentioned the poor moments that led to the goals.
“I don’t want to pick on one player, but Antony gave the ball up a lot when he came on,” said Lescott whilst on TNT Sports punditry duty.
Antony scored and assisted against Newport County on the weekend but returned to the bench on Thursday evening.
